The River Jordan is mentioned 190 times in the Bible. It is the river, in which Jesus was baptized and the heavens opened and God exclaimed "He is my son in whom I'm pleased!"
The Israelites cross the River Jordan
When Moses was standing on the top of Mount Nebo (presently in Jordan) after him and the Israelites wondered the desert for 40 years, he looked over to the other side of the River Jordan and saw the promised land, but sadly Moses was forbidden by God to set his foot on the promised land. Moses died on the Mount Nebo and Joshua lead the Israelites over the River Jordan to the promised land.
